Two of everything

Serre Chevalier is a mountain region in its purest form, a collection of 13 villages and traditional hamlets in the Hautes Alpes area. Locations where time seems to have stood still and visitors are welcomed with creative offers of holidays, wellbeing and enjoyment.

The chalets in particular have been designed in line with the oldest traditions, and convey the highest notions of comfort and wellbeing. They offer sophisticated settings and an alpine lifestyle, with first class services to meet the high-end requirements of international guests. The architect Alessandro Rovagna has prioritised wood and natural materials to create spectacular settings. His approach combines technical expertise and an inventive ability to 'mould' material to the design and the design to the material. These two stunning chalets in the heart of La Salle Les Alpes village, constructed completely of wood on long narrow land, are perfectly situated facing south, with a splendid view of the Serre Chevalier ski runs.

The design complies with the most stringent local architectural requirements, and fits perfectly into the natural environment and the urban setting. The shape and external cladding must comply with precise specifications, such as the ridge on the southern gable, which is a typical feature on houses in the area. A particular ratio of façade materials must also be observed, therefore in addition to the cladding in larch wood, there is a stone and mortar base made using Geopietra.

Geopietra wall also fits in with the spirit of the design with its timeless charm. The architect Rovagna appreciated the stone sizes and shades in the Ono Degno model. With a good understanding of how the technical implementation is inseparable from the final look of the design, the special over-grout finish with natural GeoBi mortar was selected. The naturalness of the solution is striking, not to mention the careful mix of greys and browns with subtle hues of rust and moss. The walls are in harmony with the quality wood finish, as with authentic architecture, where materials, shape, volumes and solutions used blend together and complement each other.

The attention to detail in the large, bright modern interior, the natural beauty of the exposed timber structure, and the original, understated furnishings are stunning. The twin chalets are connected via an underground tunnel and share an amazing swimming pool (swimming lane), sauna, Turkish bath and cinema room/discotheque.
